"Long before my son got to 6th grade I began worrying about what I could do for after-school care. When that day finally arrived, my husband and I were thrilled to learn about 'The Creek' after-school program, newly established at Foothill Middle School. The center provides adult supervision of middle school children in an exciting, fun, and most importantly, 'cool' environment for the kids! The Creek staff has done a fantastic job of putting together a wide variety of activities for the kids to enjoy. Some of the activities include games, enrichment classes, homework help and community service projects. The center provides peace of mind for working parents, and the kids LOVE being there. “The Creek is an idea whose time was long overdue. I found it shocking as my son transitioned from fifth to sixth grade that there was no after school care program for middle school children. When you consider that the middle school years are the very time that most kids need a strong adult influence to counteract the pressure they start to feel regarding sex and drugs and especially considering the dangers posed on the internet, it was surprising that there was no organized program for after school care. This deficiency was a large factor in my decision to stop working full time for a few years.
When I decided to return to the work force, my son was going into eighth grade. If The Creek had not been available I would have been forced to find some other option probably an in-home solution. The center could not have opened at a better time.
When my son first started at The Creek, he was a little apprehensive because of the high percentage of sixth graders. However, over a few weeks, he began to realize that he really enjoyed many of the activities and that it was much preferable to being by himself at home. He also is able to get most of his homework done and the center has done a good job in getting the textbooks the kids need. One important point is that the kids do not consider it "daycare." As he told his younger brother, "...the snacks are a lot better and the counselors are people you can talk to." Next year as this son departs Foothill, his brother will be signed up for the after school program at "The Creek.

“I am so grateful to Tricia and Donna for having the foresight and perseverance to make The Creek happen. The Creek provides our community with an excellent after school youth program geared specifically for middle school students. My daughter and her friends love going there! There have been times that my daughter has asked me to pick her up later because she is engaged in a fun activity.
There are many activities to choose from, a computer room to do your homework and play games, a staff that provides assistance if the kids need help with their homework, community service projects, and oh yes…let’s not forget the delicious snacks they have everyday.
